Dr. Dionne Finlay and Dr. Paul Williams of Smile-Savers Dental in the Bronx took a mission trip to Jamaica with supplies donated by IQ Dental.
IQ Dental customers, Dr. Dionne Finlay and Paul Williams of Smile-Savers Pediatric Dentistry in the Bronx, as well as four other dental students and three dentists recently embarked upon a mission trip with Zion Care International to the island of Jamaica.
The vision of the mission is to invest in under-served communities by offering free medical and dental services and equipment, and to spend more on these community-based projects. Dental care included extractions, fillings, cleanings and sealants. Community members even brought their children to have medical and dental forms completed for back to school. In addition, two doctors were deployed to visit fourteen shut-ins across the parish.
In just 5 days, the dental team was able to treat over 600 patients. In typical Jamaican fashion, they were shown appreciation through the presentation of food items by the locals.
